Dr. Dipu Moni’s Personal Political Vision

1. Commitment to Bangladesh as an independent and sovereign State based on its historic language, political and democratic struggle.

2. Commitment to the Rule of Law, the Constitution, the fundamental rights embodied therein and the institutions through which a SONAR BANGLA, envisaged by Bangabandhu may be achieved.

3. Commitment to the Awami League, as it has evolved over the past nearly sixty years and presented through its manifesto, as the only political party which adequately and comprehensively reflects continuity of the evolutions of the people of this land, including Bangalees and Adivasies, their culture and the values which form the bedrock for achieving a sustainable and qualitative life in the twenty-first century.

4. Commitment to the delivery of public service, especially in the fields of health, health education, education, social and economic equality of opportunity through pluralism, to the underprivileged including the younger generation, women, the minorities, the differently able and persons without or little access to public goods and services.

5. Commitment to recognition of talent/merit in all spheres of life as the basis for attaining excellence.

6. Commitment to openness of Government, of dialogue and consensus amongst and between political parties and political parties and the people whom she wishes to represent.

7. Commitment to science, technology, and modernisation as would befit a young and aspiring nation to avail the opportunities offered in a fast growing cohesive and interdependent modern world.

8. Just as there is commitment to the Rule of Law, the Constitution, the Fundamental Rights and the Awami League, there is deep commitment to process of people’s representation in the governance of the State best expressed through the constituency in Chandpur-3 to which Dr. Dipu Moni belongs and hopes to effectively represent.

9. Dr. Dipu Moni believes that she will be able to marshall her family’s political background, her medical education, her higher education in public health, in law, the knowledge gained through sustained involvement in social services such as safe blood banks, posthumous eye donation, combating arsenic contamination, relief, rehabilitation and opportunities to victims of acid throwing, her continuing and deep involvement with people, both young and old to contribute meaningfully to public causes and issues.

10. Dr. Dipu Moni believes that the vast untapped human and material resources of Bangladesh have been denied expression through the sad and unfortunate intervention of military and quasi-military regimes, which have driven a clog into the true independence and sovereignty of the people of Bagladesh and the institutions and business of the State of Bangladesh. She also believes that the true meaning of Bangladesh’s independence, the dream of a SONAR BANGLA can be achieved through the functioning of the institutions of the State and by conducting the much- neglected business of State.

Dr. Dipu Moni as a woman and mother, professional doctor, public health specialist, lawyer and teacher, devotes herself to public causes, representational politics, full time and continues to make the sacrifices which are demanded of a person in her position.
